1921 Metal Mining Output in Montana Lowest in Decade

On July 18, 1921, The Great Falls Tribune predicted that metal mining output would be the lowest in the last decade “if present conditions continue”.

 

 

 

 

Montana produced gold valued at $1,851,165 in 1920, a decrease from $2,229,588 in 1919. In 1921 the output of gold will be much further reduced as a result of the idleness of many of the mines at Butte . . . The output made by the Barnes-King Mining company was principally that of the Shannon mine as the Piegan-Gloster mine was idle.[2. Great Falls tribune. (Great Falls, Mont.), 18 July 1921. And then on January 9, 1922, The Great Falls Tribune reported . . .

A few post cards from Mary’s cousins in 1912, inquiring about her mother Eva’s health. Eva passed away later that year on July 20th.

Translation for back of March 1912 post card:

Dear Cousin Mary,
     I read your letter and was so anxious to hear of Aunt Eva. It is certainly pitiful the way she has to suffer but I hope the Dear Lord who suffered so much for our sake will give her strength. Mama[1. Irene’s mother Christena (Specht) Ehrhardt was Eva’s older sister.] is heart broken to think that she cannot see her. We had a terrible storm last week and so many fruit trees were damaged, it was the worst we had since I can remember.
