Albert went to Helena to nite with Earl Padbury.[1. I did a quick search at Ancestry.com and located a 1930 U.S. Census record showing an entry for Earl Padbury living in Marysville. Earl was a 36-year-old man married to 23-year-old Gladys. Earl and Gladys had a 2-year-old son named George.]
Albert and I, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Cannon, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Julian spent the nite at Mr. and Mrs. Ed Shafnet’s. Albert won first prize, myself 2nd Ladies first, a lovely lunch was served.[1. Sounds like they played card games that day, possibly whist.]
Midnite Mass from Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Rev. Jno. Frances Dole Bishop of Indiana and Rev. Father Curt [illegible]ulson at the Immaculate Conception. Over 2000 people went to communion.
Note: Assuming Mary was referring to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, I located this short YouTube video regarding its history.
Mr. and Mrs. Jno Korting and myself were to Mary Lehman’s funeral. We had so many clothes on we could hardly pack them. It was cold going 20 miles to Helena.
December 13, 1931
Rob O’Connell was up to hear Christie’s R.C.A. radio. Markie Ledbetter[1. I believe she is referring to George Marcus Ledbetter, son of David Ledbetter and Edith (Schenk) Ledbetter. Edith was a sister to Mary’s first husband, George Schenk.] sang over K.F.B.B., Gt. Falls, a bunch of “Love Letters.” They are now playing “Kiss me Good-Nite.” He’s a cousin to Christie Schenck. Pallbearers for Mrs. M. Lehman were Dan Derosier, August Summers, Morgan Langon, Mike Touy, Will Fletcher, Geo. Kockler.
