Jackie and Billie Converse (sons of Hazel Cole) got hit with a car driven by Clifford Hirsch (16 yrs) and Buddy Lippert (13 yrs), and died shortly after from severe injuries.[1. Research at Ancestry.com shows that “Jackie” (aka John Cole Converse) and “Billie” (aka William Harding Converse) were 6 and 10 years old respectively. They are both buried at Forestvale Cemetery in Helena. Click here for a link to Billie’s memorial page, which also has links to Jackie’s memorial page, as well as the boys’ parents and a baby who was born and died in 1919.]

The terrible reports and reading of fires, heat, drought, and holdup just has me more than sick. I never go out, when morning comes I am nearly all in for a night of fear and worry, then (illegible word) in for the day but I sure work hard before the day’s done. I have many a thing to do that others don’t see or even would see any use in doing. Joe Hall and Joe Hable were visitors. Joe Hable is an old school chum of mine.
